The second article is about how people describe that the internet doesn’t meet its purposes, and isn’t as good as people want it to be. People use the term   “Dark age” to describe it. It also mentions how the internet is making people across the world unintelligent by the use of easy access to bogus stories which influence the people in society today.

They also have the advantages of the internet and have used Wikipedia as a great example of lecturing and making people “smarter” due to the knowledge of the website. In the end the writer describes how schools need to get smarter and need more commitment and that the internet is not involved in the equation as most of it is useless.

Homework on Film, Ms van der sanden

What Film Genre are the most popular at present? Why do you think this is? (Consider technology, social & economic context
Right now I think that comedy and horror is a familiar genre in  film  today. Comedy is a genre that makes people laugh and in today’s society I think that laughter is a huge factor amongst friends and family. Another reason why I think comedy is a popular genre is that some audiences do not expect what is going to happen in the following scene. Comedy is also a common genre as in today’s world a lot wars and public affairs seem to be increasing and comedy makes the audience forget about what is going on in the world. audiences would be inclined to such content because of its relaxing benefits.
Horror is also a  common genre in today’s film as most of the audience enjoy being scared. Because  of technology, directors can now use state of the art technology in order to really scare the audience with the use of sound and on screen effects. A great example of this would be paranormal activity and its sequel which was released 3 weeks ago in cinemas. i thinnk that the producers used sound really well to produce  authentic ghost sounds.
Comedy spoofs are increasing with a mix of comedy and horror. Films like make fun of horror films by adding a lot of comedy scenes into the movie.  Films like this are beginning to be popular with most of the audience’s ages within the C1, D and E social economic.
What genres do you think were popular back in the 1930’s and 1940’s? Why? Give examples and show evidence of research
Genres such as gangster, musicals wars and comedy where most common in the 1930s and 1940s as many people enjoyed these genres at this time. Films like these were introduced at the “Golden age of Hollywood. This was the time when films where in black and white but where introduced in colour and there was heavy use of sound in these films. Films like “Stars” (1930) and “The adventures of robin hood (1938) where the film’s most popular in this time. With war films, many of the audiences could relate to becasue at the time world war 2 was going on.
